What games are similar to Escape from Tarkov?
If Escape from Tarkov isn't quite right for you in terms of gameplay and the intensity or you just want to try something similar, we've put together a shortlist covering some of the games that we think shooter fans might enjoy.
INSURGENCY SANDSTORM
The sequel to the team tactical FPS Insurgency. The game features two teams
fighting each other in a gritty and atmospheric Middle Eastern environment
to achieve unique goals. The game focuses on hardcore realism and immersive
modern combat with authentic weapon ballistics, car combat, state-of-the-art
gadgets, and deadly artillery.
Insurgency: Sandstorm, with some of the most realistic modern combat in
multiplayer shooters, features incredible sound effects, attention to detail
on weapon models and animations, and impeccable level design. Team play is
essential in any of the three game modes, as map knowledge and tactics are
just as important to winning a match as reflexes. But even though teamwork
is in the first place, and enemies fall dead from 2-3 shots, flanking the
enemy team can easily turn the tide of battle.
SCUM
SCUM is an open-world survival game that takes players to an island where a
prison owned by TEC1 is located. She records her prisoners taking part in
the battle royale style and broadcasts it for the entertainment of the
people. You play as one of the prisoners (Scum) and must survive all the
dangers of the island, including zombies, giant robots with machine guns,
dangerous wild animals, and, of course ... other players.
The survival simulation mechanics make SCUM stand out from other games.
Completing the tasks will depend on your condition, metabolism, the clothes
you wear, and the weight you have. For example; if you are low on vitamin
B12, you will be weak, easily fatigued, and unable to concentrate. But
despite this incredibly deep system, SCUM does not lack other virtues that
are not found in other modern open-world survival games - crafting, base
building, and team play.
CALIBER
Caliber is also a game from domestic developers, however, unlike Escape From
Tarkov, it is focused not on survival in a hostile environment, but on
performing various tasks as a soldier of a special forces squad. You have to
fight bandits and terrorists in cooperative and competitive modes, using
weapons and equipment that are used by real special forces.
Like Escape From Tarkov, Caliber boasts an extraordinary love of weapons
from the developers. Each model was created in close cooperation with the
world's leading manufacturers, and carefully transferred into the game.
Therefore, do not even doubt - rifles, pistols, and grenades look in the
game exactly as in reality.
HUNT: SHOWDOWN
Hunt: Showdown takes players to the thick, cold, and wet swamps of an
alternate version of Louisiana. You play as a hunter who is tasked with
tracking down nightmarish monsters and putting an end to their vile
existence; for elimination, you will receive experience, equipment, and
powerful weapons. Any of the monsters can easily kill you, and in the game,
death will constantly chase you.
Since both your character and your equipment are always under threat, the
hunt will allow you to team up with a friend to help you defeat the
terrifying monsters. But other players are not only willing to help, but
they can also try to kill you in order to steal your gear. Hunt: Showdown is
a brutal and terrifying game, but it rewards it.
RUST
Rust is a survival sandbox game in the purest sense of the word. Here you
will hunt, get food, collect prey, fight, build and create - everything in
order to survive. From the first minutes, you have nothing, and you wake up
the naked and lonely survivor. Now you have to fight thirst and find a
source of water, hunger and hunt animals, as well as colds and build a
shelter. But this is just the beginning: as you progress through the game,
you will move from caveman technology to modern weapons, robotic gadgets,
and a massive fortress as your main base ... now you just have to survive by
raiding well-equipped enemy players.
At first glance, Rust looks like any other open-world game, but it has the honor of being one of the first. And this does not mean that it has old
graphics and outdated gameplay, the developers have constantly updated and
modernized the game to such an extent that it still competes with the best
in both the graphical component and the depth of the gameplay. What makes
Rust truly unique is its incredible community engagement, fashion,
lightheartedness, and humor; get ready for obscene graffiti all over the
place.
THE DIVISION 2
Released on March 15, Division 2 promised to build on its predecessor in
every possible way, as well as improve the critical errors that the first
game had. You are an agent of a division, a secret government group of elite
operatives who have been incorporated into the population as agents ready to
work in the event of a national emergency. Like its predecessor; Division 2
is a third-person shooter RPG.
In Division 2, players roam the open streets of post-apocalyptic Washington,
completing missions for local survivors, gathering intelligence for the
government, collecting loot in raids with friends, and competing against
other players in special PVP modes. The game has excellent graphics, fun
gameplay, useful character development, and a lot of loot for crafting.
WORLD WAR 3
World War 3 is a multiplayer shooter that shows what a world war would look
like with modern military technology. The game strives for realism at every
turn, to the extent that it reinterprets the setting of the real world in
the form of a battlefield. We will visit places like Berlin, Warsaw, and
Moscow. The game is currently in Early Access on Steam and is still in
development but already showing huge strides.
While Battlefield revisits history and Call of Duty writes alternate
history, World War 3 takes us through the coming military conflict. And
players can finally see combat vehicles, armored tanks, and powerful
artillery again, and again in a modern setting (which hasn't been seen since
the release of Battlefield 4 in 2013), all with well-tuned and satisfying
gameplay, smooth graphics, and realistic sound.
TOTALLY ACCURATE BATTLEGROUNDS
What started out as an April Fool's joke turned out to be a pretty nifty
little game. Totally Accurate Battlegrounds is a battle royale-style game in
which you are thrown (more like a cannon shot) on an island, and your task
is to become the last player alive. On the island, you must collect
equipment and weapons, kill other players, and also try to get into the
ever-shrinking "safe zone". In other words, a pretty standard battle royale
game.
What sets Totally Accurate Battlegrounds apart from others is the fun
presentation that puts it all together. Everything really looks like the
screenshots you see below, and all the fighting, movement, and driving are
completely based on physics, which encourages all kinds of jokes and fun.
CUISINE ROYALE
Cuisine Royale is a free-to-play battle royale-style game where the creators
somehow managed to mix cooks, PUBG and War of The Roses. You use armor-like
cookware, dress up in fun carnival costumes and hunt for the elusive SMEG
refrigerators. And despite all these fun elements, it's still a very
cleverly designed and fun shooter set in a beautiful setting.
It is free to play, fun, unique and unlike some other games with realistic
ballistic mechanics, lots of loot, and an active community. With some of the
many gadgets that you can find, the game also becomes unique, for example,
you can find jump boots in which you can jump five meters high.
ARK: SURVIVAL EVOLVED
Arc Island is big, beautiful, and full of dangers in the form of dinosaurs.
You play as a survivor, trapped on an island and must hunt, harvest and fish
to survive. But beyond survival, you can tame dinosaurs and other creatures,
research new technologies to help you move from the Stone Age to the Science
Fiction Age, and build massive bases alone or with your friends.
Aside from worrying about the standard aspects of a survival game like food,
water, colds, and sickness, it's the dinosaurs that really make Ark:
Survival Evolved stands out from the rest of the genre. From good steeds like
the Raptor or the prehistoric giant bird Argentavis to the warrior dinosaurs
like the Carnotaurus or the T-rex, or the giant frog Beelzebufo. You can use
a dinosaur for every purpose, and they are all fun to control and command.
Once you're advanced enough your base looks great, you can upgrade your
wooden spear to a laser rifle, and you have enough dinosaurs to open a small
zoo. Most importantly, the rival base above the river should not be tempted
to raid you, but if they do, the first strike may prove to be a viable
option.
DAYZ
The former Soviet country, Chernorussia, is going through hard times. The
country was infected with an unknown virus, and the majority of the
population turned into hungry zombies hungry for flesh. Meanwhile, the few
surviving humans began to fight each other for precious resources, rather
than team up to survive. DayZ is an open-world game that focuses on PVP and
the despair that a lack of resources can cause.
DayZ is one of the original open-world survival games that has evolved from
the trendy ARMA 2 to a fully-featured stand-alone game. Zombies are now much
more deadly, the weather is the real enemy, hunger and thirst are
unforgiving than ever, and deadly infections and predators pose a whole new
threat. But throughout all this, other players will be the main enemy.
Strategize and kill the enemy squad, and the rewards can be immeasurable. If
you fail, you will lose everything. An atmospheric setting, real weapon
ballistics, deep simulation, and active modding of the community - all this
sets Dayz apart as one of the persistent representatives of the survival
genre.
SURVARIUM
Survarium is a free-to-play multiplayer RPG shooter that takes players into
a post-apocalyptic universe filled with dilapidated industrial buildings,
space anomalies, and horribly disfigured and mutated creatures. The game
currently offers a standard set of offerings for multiplayer shooters, but
Vostok Games promises to add a more open world in the future.
The developers have added reliable, intuitive, and realistic gameplay to
this shooter, and the RPG mechanics and loot/equipment system are unique.
Plus, the environment design and graphical fidelity are incredible
(especially for a free game) and they really knew how to make a
post-apocalyptic setting that doesn't look drab. Supernatural elements and
special abilities that you can turn off as you level up your character are
an interesting addition that makes Survarium stand out.
MISCREATED
Miscreated has a traditional open world, survival, zombie, and adds a pleasing layer of polished and well-executed core gameplay mechanics. As one
of the last human survivors, you will have to search the ruins of the old
world for resources, repair broken cars, defend against mutants and other
players, build a defensible base, and store food and water for long-term
survival.
While no part of Miscreated is unique compared to other survival games, it
successfully brings it all together in one game. You get Rust's crafting and
building, DayZ's Player versus Environment gameplay, PUBG's fluid and
addictive action, and SCUM's deep character customization and simulation.
MIST SURVIVAL
Mist Survival takes the classic multiplayer survival and zombie formula and
turns it upside down by removing multiplayer and adding survival. Find ruins
to hide, craft weapons, equipment, clothing, and gear, farm the land, raise
farm animals, control NPC companions, repair vehicles, explore the world,
defeat bandit camps and protect them from monsters and zombies.
Since Mist Survival is designed for single-player play, it can do things
that its multiplayer contemporaries simply could never. There is a wide
variety of scary monsters, AI bandits, hostile animals, and other threats
that play a large role in the game. The NPC control and survival mechanics
are reminiscent of State of Decay. If you want to experience deep survival
gameplay without having to constantly be harassed by other players, Mist
Survival is a perfect choice.
HURT WORLD
Another open-world survival game that features cool visuals, deep basic
mechanics and customization, adaptive PVC combat, and an expansive open a world with large and varied environments.
Hurtworld is still in its early stages of access, and many of the systems
featured in the game are full and constantly undergoing changes and
improvements. This has been the case for several years, and the sheer number
of changes and improvements is still impressive. Combined with extremely
smooth gameplay and nice graphics, you have a budget game that is difficult
to play, but still worth looking into.
PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG)
If you haven't heard of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (or PUBG) yet, we're
curious to know what it's like to live in a cave for years. In the main
battle royale game, players jump out of an airplane to a large location.
They then have to comb the map and find equipment and weapons that they can
use to fight 99 other players. The last survivor is the winner and gets a
nice juicy chicken dinner (in the game) as well as the admiration of the
masses. The island's habitable area shrinks over time, pushing players into
smaller and smaller areas and inevitable conflict with the survivors.
PUBG has an extremely large player base, well-crafted and proven gameplay,
great visuals, fun weapon use, and a frying pan-based meta-game that will
save your backs more times than you can imagine. The high risk and tension
of each match are well balanced with the next match just a few short clicks
away with minimal latency due to the huge community. PUBG is one of the few
games on this list with such a versatile appeal and stable structure and is
regularly played in esports tournaments around the world.
You know what I've never thought of. When you get really kitted out guns in COD or r6 and you just sort of take it for granted, but after playing EFT, the money and time spent dying over and over and finally scraping enough money to get to do some modding on the guns in tarkov really makes me appreciate guns in these other games more
