Lost Ark: 10 Pro Tips For Combat

Lost Ark has some exhilarating combat. Here are some pro tips to help players get their bearings.

Lost Ark, the latest giant MMORPG created by Smilegate. Do incredibly well for various reasons, whether it's the lore of the game or just the incredible amount of things to do.

But by far, one of the game's biggest appeals is its unique fighting style. This Diablo-style fighting style is not something that many MMORPGs have tried, and none of them have been as successful as Lost Ark. But for those unfamiliar with this style of combat, or just MMORPG combat, in general, here are some of the best ways to excel in every fight.

Tip 1. Saving Combat Items

Finally, save your battle items! The game constantly throws them at the player from level one to fifty, but there's rarely a real need to use them before reaching endgame content. It is even more difficult for story bosses after level 50 shouldn't need to use any combat items to defeat them with relative ease.

This is something that will admittedly hurt combat early on, but having all of these combat items stockpiled for Guardian, Abyss, and Chaos dungeons in the endgame will be incredibly helpful, especially when it comes to health potions, Phoenix Feathers, and all sorts of grenades.

Tip 2. Find out which combat stats are most important for your class

Lost Ark players may be surprised to see that when they open their character menu, there are no classic Strength, Agility, and Intelligence stats (on the surface), but things like Dominance, Specialization, and Quickness.

These stats affect a lot of different things, and it's important to experiment with them when Lost Ark items equipment and see which ones work well with the player's class. For example, Scrapper (depending on the average build) works great with a lot of Swiftness since this stat reduces the cooldown, and Scrapper always uses some skill to gain shock or stamina. Getting into this system early should allow players to feel like they have more influence on how their class works and make it much easier to notice these changes based on stat distribution.

Tip 3. Learning & Understanding the Effects of Skills

One of the biggest challenges new Lost Ark players have seems to be struggling with remembering all the little things that each of their skills does. Some Skills deal more damage than Backward Attacks, some are designed to be used directly in front of you, and some are best used at the perfect time to "counter"—Boss' attack.

Try to make a conscious effort to create a set of skills that won't mix and match attacks from behind and front too often, remember which Skills are counter, and always keep an eye out for Skills with high Stagger or Vulnerability.

Tip 4. Crowd Control Is Key

Unlike many of the other tips given here, this one applies immediately after the first mission of the main questline. Lost Ark is a game all about Crowd Control. Even in the first few areas of Retramis, players will have to fight relatively large groups of enemies. Thus, the better the player can group them, the faster his pumping will go and the more fun.

Some Skills are great for grouping enemies (at least enemies vulnerable to Tolk), but running in a small semi-circle when they're all gathered naturally works too. And it's beneficial, as this state of mind carries over nicely to the end content with the Chaos Dungeons and the Tower.

Tip 5. Try to maintain a balanced set of cooldowns

It didn't matter at first, but later, as the monsters get stronger (especially in endgame content), one spin using all of the player's Skills will no longer wipe out the mob and the Boss.

And when this starts happening, it will immediately become important to start monitoring cooldowns more. This may differ for each class, but in general, it seems like a good idea to mix and match skills with low, medium, and long cooldowns if possible so that there is always something ready to use.

Tip 6. Proving ground - the easy way Test builds ahead of time

Another excellent tip for players trying to figure out which Lost Ark skills to equip and which not to. Leave alone to experiment. Sometimes a player may want to experiment with certain tripods, skills, or even stat distributions to see what works with their class and play style. Of course, Trixion's Training Room is incredible for this, but it's not available before learning Trixion's Song.

Luckily, the Proving Ground Coordination Book is great for this. This is not unlocked until reaching Castle Luterra, but once it is, players can move into PvP and get the full skill set sooner. Also, PvP is balanced here, which means that gear and stats are also leveled, so it's all down to the raw frame and tactics.

Tip 7. Create a Leveling Build & Boss Build

The Lost Ark is not the type of MMORPG that makes things easy. There are a million different systems at the end of the game and an absurd number of ways to approach each Boss, dungeon, or raid. And the general rule of thumb (so far) seems to be that it's good for everyone to have a "Bossing" build and a "Scope" build for endgame content. Prepare a build for Chaos Dungeons and a build for Guardian Raids.

The AoE build also absolutely something players should use when leveling up, as most of the story quests revolve around killing groups of mobs and fighting one or two easy bosses.

Tip 8. A movement-based skill should always be equipped

An easy way to get around Lost Ark's harsh dodge system is to have one or two movement-based skills at all times. For example, every Scrapper build has the "Charge Strike" skill as part of the build, although the damage is low, simply because it's a fantastic approach or dodge option.

We recommend that you familiarize yourself with other guides to popular tattoo-mall.ru games. Let's talk about the secrets and tricks that you can use in games to your advantage. And also about useful and interesting stories in video games.

Also, players can't ride their mounts in areas like any of the islands or the dungeons, so being able to spam those skills to conquer territory faster makes those areas a lot less tedious.

Tip 9. Be careful with dodges

Although in content up to the maximum level, it may seem that this is not the case, the Lost Ark combat system is quite difficult. There is no real tank. Role in the game: It seems that Boss Aggro is very difficult to keep on one person accurately. To further complicate matters, players don't have many options for dodging in combat. Each class has its type of "evasion". They all have a cooldown of about ten seconds from a dash to a roll and even a step back.

Get in the habit of dodging the Boss's telegraph attacks early on (even if the Boss isn't all that dangerous), so it's easier to do it when it matters, like in higher-level Guardian raids, etc.

Tip 10. A few key settings

This first tip is more about quality of life than anything else. Several settings are changing that have a rather significant impact on the gameplay. First of all, these are the following settings: Reload sounds, Combat scheme, and Cursor aiming.

  • Cooldown Sounds: Located in the Audio tab, it makes a small noise when a skill is not on cooldown. It would be great if players could have multiple sounds that they applied to different Skills, but even with just one of them, it's much easier to keep Skills flowing without having to look down so often.
  • Combat Pattern: This option is located in the Combat and Display section of the Gameplay tab. Enabling this setting causes a faint blue aura-like outline to appear around the player character in combat. The Lost Ark is a game with many enemies on screen and many-particle effects, so any accessibility options for visual clarity help a lot.
  • Cursor aim: They are located in the same section as the Combat Schematic. The Cursor's aim sets it so that the skills don't have a minor "auto-aim" to them near where the mouse cursor is pointing. Thus, the skills will work exactly where they are aimed, not at the enemy closest to the Cursor.
