Path of Exile 3.6 Shock Nova Most Popular Build Guide

Shock Nova is a lightning spell with a high chance to shock that casts an initial ring of lightning followed by a larger circular area of lightning damage.


In Path of Exile 3.6 Synthesis, Shock Nova has Mana Cost at gem level 1 is now 12 (was 13). Mana Cost at gem level 20 is now 23 (was 26). Now has a cast time of 0.7 seconds (from 0.75). Now deals 34 to 102 Lightning damage at gem level 1 (from 26 to 79) and 371 to 1114 Lightning damage at gem level 20 (from 275 to 825). Now has an added damage effectiveness of 120% (from 60%).



[PoE 3.6 Elementalist] Shocking AOE - Shock Nova Build

Shock Nova Elementalist is a project that I wanted to do for a long time and it's finally done and it's effective. Fully end-game viable, Shaper and Elder dead, so it's not so "hipster" anymore. Massive AOE, decent mobility and competitive boss damage!
Fast to level up and can be done in the temporary league as well, no mirror gear required! The total investment here was around 10 exalts (if we assume you are gonna 6L a chest yourself, which I usually accomplish in temp league).

Pros & Cons:
+ massive AOE
+ decent clear speed
+ great with Inpulsa
+ fast for mapping/XP
- pretty squishy against bosses
- not your Blade Flurry 20 million shaper damage
- a wand build, but not a wander

Ascendancy: 
The pendulum of Destruction, Mastermind of Discord, Shaper of Desolation, Beacon of Ruin (uber lab)

Bandits: 
Kill All or Alira (i took Kill All)

Pantheon:
Major: Soul of the Brine King is pretty mandatory to survive chain-stunning.
Minor: Soul of Gruthkul helps a bit from heavy hitters.

[PoE 3.6 Elementalist]The Perfect Storm Shock Nova & Storm Call Build

After playing fire and ice builds, my goal was to create a viable endgame lightning based caster. I've made a Vaal Spark witch with good clearspeed, but I noticed the single target was lacking. Arc didn't seem interesting and I had wanted to make a Shock Nova build for a while. However, as with most AoE spells, single target damage is lacking! So I got the idea to use Shock Nova for AoE while having an option for single target dps.

Pros & Cons:
+ Can comfortably map up until T15/16
+ Good AOE clearspeed
+ Good single target DPS
+ 6,8k life
+ Can clear close (Shock Nova) and ranged (Storm Call)
+ Constantly inflicts Status Ailments on mobs
+ Full uptime of power charges
- Not a 20 million dps BV build
- Cannot do Elemental Reflect maps
- A bit squishy vs bosses do require dodging skills

Ascendancy:
Pendulum of Destruction
Mastermind of Discord
Shaper of Desolation
Beacon of Ruin

Bandits:
Help Alira for resistances, crit multi, and mana regen.

Pantheon:
Major: Brine King to help avoid chain stunning
Minor: up to you, I prefer Ryslatha for the flask charges and recovery

[PoE 3.6 Saboteur]Shocking Tri-Element Trapper - Shock Nova Build!

3.6 Update:
So, big changes! Well, actually, they are very simple changes, but big changes, nonetheless.

The damage of both Ice Trap and Shock Nova has been increased significantly, especially with the former. Ice Trap got such a big damage buff, in fact, I wonder if it might outdo Fire Trap for single target purposes! Well, we'll see once I try it out. Ice Trap also got an increased area of effect, which is nice. Apparently, the quality bonus is unchanged, sadly. That one is still as useless as ever.

But hey, as with many other Path of Exile Skills, the change only can increase the damage output and clearing speed of this build!

I've looked through various Lists of Trapper builds and was quite confused that I've never seen a single Tri-Element Trapper since... Goodness me, I believe 1.something.

Pros & Cons:
+ Can run pretty much any Map mod (Although no Life and Mana reg can be a major pain)
+ No mandatory Gear
+ Fast screen-clearing
+ Can get a decently high life and ES pool (5k+ life and 2.5k-3.5k ES(Depending on your gear)
+ Atziri, Izaro and High Tier Maps ain't no problem!
+ Can deal with every Guardian! (See Videos for each below)
+ Uber Atziri, Shaper and T15 Elder viable! (Video for latter to come)
+ Loads of fun to play!
+ Everyone loves a Shocker!

= Viable for HC, but can be a pain early on, as this build tends to be pretty squishy in its early stages.
= Mana heavy without Mind over Matter, meaning you need a Mana Flask if you don't skill it.

- The high amount of giant Shock Novas and Ice Traps can get on one's eyes quickly
- Your fingers can get stiff from constantly smashing the keyboard

Gems Setup:
Fire Trap + Trap And Mine Damage + Concentrated Effect + Elemental Focus + Controlled Destruction + Increased Critical Damage/Increased Critical Strikes/Fire Penetration/Level 4 Empower

Ice Trap + Trap And Mine Damage + Cluster Trap + Added Cold Damage/Concentrated Effect/Elemental Focus
Shock Nova + Trap(if you don't have Deerstalker yet) + Cluster Trap/Increased Area of Effect + Trap and Mine Damage + Charged Traps

Siphoning Trap + Increased Duration/Advanced Traps/Culling Strike
Whirling Blades/Shield Charge + Faster Attacks + Fortify or Lightning Warp + Faster Casting + Reduced Duration

Cast When Damage Taken(Level 3) + Immortal Call(Level 5) + Increased Duration
Blasphemy + Elemental Weakness/Temporal Chains/Enfeeble
Bear Trap(From your Shield) + Culling Strike + Increased Rarity
Clarity for more Mana regeneration
Golem
Vaal Lightning Trap

Ascendancy:
Saboteur is definitely my preferred one. You can get Assassin, sure, but Chain Reaction, in my opinion, outperforms any crit you get from the Assassin skills!

Bandits:
Help Alira for more Mana regeneration, more Crit multiplier and some Resistances as a neat side bonus. Either that or kill all and get 2 skill points, your choice.

Get Perfect Crime and Chain Reaction with your first two batches of points and then Pyromaniac for Life regen and after that Born in the Shadows to blind your enemies with your shocking look
